ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Raw Science Film Festival (RSFF) is an annual event that brings together people across science, technology, entertainment and media from across the world to showcase best in class film and media from around the globe. The event was initially made possible through the support of the National Academy of Sciences and The Science and Entertainment Exchange

The mission of RSFF is to humanize science and bring fact-based experts to the forefront of popular culture by celebrating the best science storytelling in the world. The goal is to create a world class film festival for science media on par with Cannes or Sundance, and to extend the festival globally.

The Raw Science Film Festival was established in 2014.

It won “Best of the Fest” in 2019 by FestForums, a consortium of key industry leaders, event producers, and artists with a Board including the Co-Founder of Woodstock (1969), President of Live Nation, Director of Glastonbury Festival, President and Founder of Sundance Productions, and Editor at Large of Billboard.

In 2018, over 400 people drove through fire to celebrate science at RSFF in Santa Barbara, CA during the middle of the largest fire in California history.
