Off the Screen, Into Our Lives, Using Film for Science Education
Documentary media has the unique power to captivate interest, create empathy, and open windows of understanding. In this workshop, we will examples of how science-related films can motivate action, spark new research questions, or advocate for policy change.

Impact Education Specialist | Jen is the co-founder of Blueshift Education (blueshifteducation.com), which develops educational materials for great documentary films. Discussion guides, professional development workshops, classroom curriculum, advocacy toolkits, and more support award-winning films like My Octopus Teacher and To Kill a Tiger to achieve their impact and educational goals. Jen previously worked with the San Francisco Department of public health, where she directed programs to engage diverse communities into the design and implementation of clinical trials for HIV prevention, including HIV vaccines and PrEP. Jen was also Executive Director of the nonprofit Building Bridges which cultivated relationships between Israeli and Palestinian teens.
